The painted detailing is done on top of many layers of Urushi nuri lacquer, using precious metals such as gold, platinum and silver. The Artist Kouichiro Tsukasa has carefully drawn this masterpiece by hand for us. We are fortunate to have 3 of these beautiful masterpieces that will only go up in value and stand the test of time. Takeshi doesn't normally do this but at our request he surpassed all expectation. Takeshi Saji is a leading forge Smith in Echizen region of Japan. He was born in 1948 in Takefu. In 1992 he was officially awarded the certificate for "Traditional Master Cratsman" by the" Ministry of International trade and industry"He uses traditional techniques of hammer forging to achieve stunning designs with ultra hardness, durability and sharpness achieving up to 64Hrc with his great understanding and use of SG2 ( Super gold 2) or otherwise known as R2.This beautiful blade has an Hrc of 63 achieved with multilayers of copper, stainless steel and brass wrapped around a core of SG2 steel,creating what is called Rainbow Damascus or colour red Damascus.
